FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What can I expect from working with you?

-Thoughtful consideration of your project and business goals.

And the high degree of professionalism I brought to all of my

clients for more than three decades in law practice.  At Lakeside Copywriting, content copywriting for lawyers and their service providers will receive that same attention.

What kinds of results can I expect?

-Clear, compelling copy that is on time and according to your specifications.  If you are not 100% satisfied, I will make necessary revisions until you are.  However, because so many factors impact marketing (price, market, demand, the economy, etc.) I cannot guaranty a particular result after you put the content into use.

 What is your process?

-First, an initial contact to determine your goals and needs, to determine whether we are a good fit for each other.  I will then send a proposal to you within 2-3 business days, and if you approve, ask you to sign an agreement  and return it to me along with the deposit.

-I will then begin researching your business, your prospects and their businesses, and the key people in each.  I will also ask you to provide copies of any existing campaigns, what your competitors are doing, etc.  We’ll get to this information by my sending you a Creative Brief, which is in a question and answer format.

-I will then write the copy and submit a first draft to you for review.  I'll make any revisions you require (if received within 30 days after the draft and not a change in the initial assignment) until you are satisfied with the copy , then edit, polish and put it  in the form necessary to meet the marketing method you have chosen (e.g website content, article or email marketing, list building strategies, speeches, press releases…)

Do you do the work yourself or outsource?

-I do all the writing  myself.  I do have an assistant who may provide research for me, if needed on larger projects or tight deadlines.

Can you do the design, and manage my overall marketing program?

-I laser focus my business on writing content for your projects.  I do not do design or manage marketing, printing, assembling of mailing lists, etc.  I am happy to work with those people if you have them on staff.  If not, I can help point you in the right direction with appropriate contacts.

I have a tight deadline to meet.  Can you start on my copywriting project right away?

-That depends on my current workload.  If it looks like we are a good fit I will do my best to accommodate your deadline, as long as I can do so without compromising the commitments I currently have in place.  I don’t make commitments I can’t keep, so if I don’t have time for your project I will let you know right away, and suggest others for your project if you wish.

 What are your rates?

-I do not publish rates because I believe it is impossible to forecast the work needed to put out quality copy without knowing a lot about the project.  I will provide a written fee and project proposal within 2-3 business days after our initial contact.  I do not compete on price.  If a low cost provider is your main goal, there are numerous options on the Internet.

What kind of turnaround time can I expect?

-Generally speaking, it will take 2-3 weeks from acceptance of proposal to first draft.  It may taking more or less time depending upon the project and resources.  We an discuss your timing needs in our initial contact.

What if I want to make revisions?

-I'll make them until you are completely satisfied, as long as you request them within 30 days of the initial draft and are within the scope of the initial assignment.

We are in different parts of the country.  Can we still work together?

-Absolutely!  My business is virtual.  I can work anywhere, and we can communicate anywhere there is Internet or phone service.  In most cases, personal contact is not necessary.   If for some reason in person meetings are required, we can discuss it and provide for it in the services contract.

What is the best time to reach you?

-You can reach out by email or telephone at any time.

How do I go about hiring you?  Do I have to sign a contract?  Do you ask for       money up front?

-If it looks like a good fit after our initial contact (email or telephone) I’ll send a written proposal. If it looks acceptable I will send an agreement and ask you to sign and return it along with a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total price quoted in the proposal.  I require payment in full up front for project fees of less than $1,000.

What sets you apart from everyone else?

-Decades of experience practicing law in a variety of office and courtroom settings.  It is a demanding profession, requiring deep research skills, persuasive  writing, and the ability to read people. These skills carry over wonderfully to copywriting, but not completely.  And so I’ve spent thousands of dollars, and hours, learning and practicing in person and online  with American Writers And Artists, Inc., the industry leader in training copywriters.  It is a powerful combination.
